Review of The Off Limits Billionaire Doctor
Lily works as a nurse when a new doctor, Ethan Caldwell, joins her hospital as the chief. Lily is attracted to him, but rumors follow him. People say he murdered his ex-wife. Lily, a dedicated single mother, wants to find happiness but also must protect her daughter. Lily, having married her high school sweetheart only for him to run off and abandon her and his daughter, is wary of allowing romance back into her life. Will Lily take a chance on Ethan? Are the rumors about him true? Read The Off Limits Billionaire Doctor by J.R. Jofre to find out.
The character of Lily was my favorite part of the book. I admired her devotion to her daughter, Emily. Even when thinking of pursuing a relationship with Ethan, she made sure to think of how that would impact Emily. This devotion remained consistent throughout the book, which I appreciated. I also thought that Lily's skill and confidence at work was inspiring. She refused to back down when she knew her approach would work. Overall, she was a likable character.
One main dislike of the book was the lack of a concrete timeline. I struggled to know how much time had passed between major events in the novel. There were a few times when Jofre would mention a month or day had passed, but in general, it seemed as though these details were missing, and I would have appreciated a few more. I also thought the ending was quite rushed. I wish that Jofre would have slowed the pace in the last third of the book to give more attention to the major plot points.
I rate this book 3 out of 5 stars. While I enjoyed the characterization, I thought the ending was rushed, and the overall timeline was confusing. For these reasons, I am taking off two stars. The book was also well-edited, as I only noticed a few errors. The Off Limits Billionaire Doctor is a great option for those who enjoy closed-door romance novels. I believe that the book is suitable for both adults and older teenagers.
