Review of Corrupting Bunny
Selina works as a cam girl, though she keeps her identity secret with a mask and wig. She tells herself it is only until she can become established financially. She decides to auction off a one-on-one call with one of her fans. The winner, who she is told to call Reaper, wants the one-on-one calls to continue; he promises to pay handsomely each time. Soon, Selina finds herself receiving many gifts from him and being turned on by him in so many ways. However, is Selina truly only a cam girl to Reaper? Troubling signs begin to emerge, and Selina wonders if perhaps she is not as separated from him as she believes.
I thought the characters were compelling, and it was easy to connect with the emotional beats of the story. Themes of abuse, the pressure to meet expectations, and the struggle to make it in life were present and drove the characters' actions. Selina did not want to be a cam girl. She simply wanted to be able to afford to buy a house and live comfortably. She also craved connection, which she began to get through Reaper's constant attention. I thought the characters' motivations were compelling and drove the plot along.
The book could use additional proofreading; I encountered many errors throughout the book, some of which were rather distracting. This book would not be enjoyed by individuals who are bothered by poor editing. The dialogue was also unnatural at times. It was a dialogue-heavy book, so this became a large issue to try and overlook. Some refinement of language would do wonders for the book.
I rate Corrupting Bunny by C.B. Blackburn 2 out of 5 stars. The errors and writing style were distracting and took away from my reading experience. If the book were thoroughly edited, then I believe that it would deserve a higher rating. This book is only suitable for mature audiences who do not mind erotic content, violence, and strong language. I believe that those of religious backgrounds would not enjoy this book. It should only be read by those who enjoy dark romance novels.
