Wrong Bed, Right Guy by Katee Robert (SPOILERS!)
Main character just isn't very likable at all. She's condescending, judgmental, uptight, prissy, and pretty much an ice queen which doesn't make sense, IMO at least, since she was raised on a farm. I've never met any farmers but in my mind, they're hard working and down to earth folks who are great company, not this Class A snooty bitch.Prim and proper art gallery coordinator Elle Walser is no good at seducing men. Heck, she’s been throwing hints at her boss for months, but he’s completely clueless. Desperate to escape her mother’s matchmaking efforts, she comes up with a plan—buy some lingerie and climb into her boss’s bed. The plan goes brilliantly…until she accidentally seduces a sexy stranger instead.
Bad boy nightclub mogul Gabe Schultz just had the best almost-sex of his life. Too bad the smoking hot blonde thought he was his brother and bolted before he could finish what they started. Though her holier-than-thou attitude puts a serious damper his mood, Gabe’s never been one to give up on something he wants. And he wants Elle. But does a man who lives on the dark side really have a chance with a proper lady?
Exhibit A: hero, Gabe, visits her at work after their FUBAR of a night where she rode his fingers until she came, all the while thinking he was her boss(Nathan, aka Gabe's brother) in an attempt to trap him in a relationship.
Confused?
Let me explain. MC needs a "good man" (read: rich, good looking, great career) to bring home to her mom. Instead of going on dates or charming a man into a relationship like normal people do, she decides to break into her boss's apartment, slip into his bed, and seduce/jump/rape/whothehellknowswhatshesthinking him then wake up the next morning and shout "Surprise, we had sex last night while you were still half asleep! Since you're such a great catch and obviously such a nice guy, I guess that means we're dating. Btw, I expect an engagement ring by next week and I've already moved my toiletries and half my closet into your apartment"
But that didn't happen since her boss decided to sleep in his guest room and his brother slept in the Master bedroom (which doesn't make any freaking sense since 1- Gabe has his own bloody house, and 2- why the hell wouldn't Gabe be in the guest room?).
Anyway, back to my main point.. Gabe shows up at the art gallery and what does she do? She turned her nose up at him and repeatedly implied that he couldn't afford any of the art because he has a lot of tattoos. If that were true then this would've been an interesting book (woman overcoming her preconceived notions of what being the perfect man entails) but alas, Gabe owns more than five nightclubs around the country.
Exhibit B: hero takes her to a bar for lunch. Granted the place could use a makeover but she completely freaked out. She thought some horrible things about the male customers (they didnt so much as glance at her so her rude ass inner dialogue was completely unwarranted) and implied that the females were prostitutes because they wore makeup and six inch heels (come on! Where the hell would you even find 5 inched heels, nonetheless 6? She completely exaggerated). She also booked a doctor's appointment to get tested for hepatitis afterwards, I kid you not.
Okay, so the whole ice princess thing could be a defense mechanism but why she needs one, I have no clue. She had a pretty spectacular childhood compared to most people I know, and other than the jerk of an ex who broke her heart in college (who hasn't gotten their hearts broken at one point or another??), she's led a pretty charmed life.
I guess what I'm trying to say is she's either a condescending, judgmental, uptight bitch or she's just a freaking weak ass human being. Either way, I don't like her and can't excuse her for any of her behavior in the book and can't, for the life of me, understand why Gabe would want her at all nonetheless with the driving need he displays in the book. He can do soo much better.
