Beautiful Addictions - Season Vining REVIEW

Beautiful Addictions - Season Vining
I received this book in exchange for an honest review, and honestly, I wasn’t impressed. I don’t even know where to start with this one.

To me, it felt like a combination of multiple fragmented story lines. It’s the romanticized story of a broken girl who has turned to sex and drugs to cope. She’s “rescued” by Tristan, a man from her past that she doesn’t remember because (of course!) she has amnesia. The reason for her medical condition being some sort of post-traumatic stress brought on by a ravenous group of drug-dealing mobsters, who, while dealing with a rival gang, are also bent on her imminent death. WHAT?

I found the characters to have very little personality. It certainly wouldn’t have hurt the book to have had a bit more character development.

Another thing that irked me was the presence of celestial definitions at the start of each chapter. I didn’t feel like it lent anything to the plot, and quite frankly, didn’t make sense. Neither the moon nor stars played a major role in the novel. In fact, the moon came up maybe twice.

Tristan’s inexplicable talent to recall every thing he has ever read in the exact way it was written bothered me to no end! “It’s just in my makeup” was the best explanation given. No! It’s not possible and has absolutely no relevance.
I felt that it was pretty obvious that this was the work of a first time author. As a whole, it was just a jumbled mess of thoughts that didn’t make up a compelling enough story.
