Where do I start! A western romance that contains prejudice, hate, family dissension, a hero to die for, a strong determined heroine, a cast of villains, and a love story that will make you cry. Anne is a 28 year old spinster, Cord is half Cheyenne Indian. Annie does not fit the mold her family desires, and Cord is definitely not what his family desires. The are found in a compromising situation. Annie's father forces Annie and Cord marry in what her father thinks will not be legal. They proceed to build a life, much to the horror of both families. This story follow the growing love and commitment of Cord and Anne. Plot pacing and character development was good. Strong characters, families shown flawed as they really are but still bonded by blood. Life is not a fairy tale as Mrs O'Connell shows in her writing.
