Reckless (Renegades #1)

Post by tlsabatu1488 »

Hello Everyone,
Reckless (Renegades #1)
Skye Jordan and Joan Swan
Lexi LaCroix grew up poor and everything that she has, she has worked for herself. Lexi went to New York city to be a model and quit modeling when she had enough money in order to open her own dress shop. Lexi is a wedding dress designer, specifically to the rich and famous. Lexi’s image means everything to her and refuses to let anything or anyone, especially a guy, taint that image and ruin all that she has worked for. Lexi is travelling to New York City in order to have an interview with a well-established and desired company. When arriving at the airport, Lexi and her friend run into two guys. Both are gorgeous as all heck. While one of the men is pretty boy attractive, the other is attractive in the rugged sort of way. Both have bodies to die for. Lexi’s attention is drawn to the mysterious and rugged man who she locks eyes with. He breaks the gaze and walks into the terminal. Lexi does not think that she will see or speak to this man ever again. When going into the terminal her friend informs her that the demo app that she had been working on is downloaded to Lexi’s phone. The app is one that allows an individual to retrieve telephone numbers from others just by being near them. When Lexi sits down, hiding herself with a hat, she sees the rugged man that she had run in to and decides to use the app. Lei tends to avoid any type of relationship because every man she has been with uses her for her “body”.
Jax Chamberlin had quit acting years ago but everyone still recognizes his face. He quit acting in order to become a stunt man and he now owns his own stunt company. Jax has been used by women on multiple occasions thus making him hesitant about being with a woman. Every woman who he has been with has attempted to use him for his connections, to get an interview, an audition and uses him for his resources. Finding a woman who does not want to use Jax for her own benefit has been impossible for him which is why when he receives a text from an anonymous female while waiting in the terminal for his flight, he is amused. After texting for a period of time, Jax and Lexi exchange names. The conversation that Jax has had with Lexi makes him want more with her. He is instantly attracted to her personality and charm. He tries to get her to reveal herself but she refuses. It is not until later that Lexi agrees to meet with him for a hook up. She makes it clear that is all that she wants and Jax agrees as well. When Lexi goes to her room, she ensures that it is anonymous and he does not know what she looks like so that the hook up remains just that, a hook up.
After that night, Jax realizes that he wants more, a lot more. Lexi is reluctant because she does not want her image tainted. Can Jax trust that if Lexi finds out who he is, that he will not just use him for his connections? Can Lexi let loose and realize that image is not everything and not everyone wants to ruin her?
I rate this book a four out of five stars. The book is well written, the characters are developed but not as much as I would have liked, the plot was good and it did not drag. However, I find that I felt there could have been more. The book seemed too simple for me. I wish that there were more twists and turns. More occurrences and dramatic situations. The book was really good but I still find that It was too simple and stream line.

I read this story a long time ago, but I agree. It is a good quick read. Nothing really special and I wished that it had had more angst, but overall enjoyable.
