I really liked this book. This book is about werewolf shifters. The lead female (Ava) is the General's daughter, she gets kidnapped by rogue wolves so that they can rape her repeatedly in order to repopulate their breed of red wolves (previously thought to be extinct), but she doesn't even know she's a wolf. The lead male (Damon) is a Guardian (basically a foot soldier). He is sent to rescue the female. He rescues her, they can't go back home due to other problems so he's told to take her on the run. They have chemistry, but they don't actually have sex right away (different reasons stop them). He's had a rough life and doesn't trust easily. He doesn't feel good enough for her. She's new to the whole wolf thing so not tied to its rules, so she doesn't understand why he would not simply admit to the mutual attraction.
This book had enough storyline, adventure, dialogue, angst, and romance to keep me interested the whole way through. I found some of Damon's issues in the beginning to be confusing. He says he has a problem with being in crowds and having people touch him, but even though he expects to have a panic attack when Ava will touch him (she has to in order to stay in the motorcycle), he doesn't. Now in other werewolf romances this would be explained be her being his fated mate or something like that, but in this one that doesn't happen. He just isn't bothered by her touching him. The author seems to make an issue of this problem in the beginning and then it's only briefly mentioned one other time near the end. Is this a big deal for him or not? The other issue I had was with Damon not wanting to have his neck touched due to be chained and collared for a year in the past
I totally get this issue, and the fact that he can't even stand Ava touching his neck, but again this problem seems to later disappear as the story progresses.
Other than what I think about these two issues not being handled well, I really liked this book and would recommend it to anyone who likes paranormal romance novels and who doesn't mind descriptive sex scenes.
