This book sounds like a good one to read for a relaxing day! I can definitely see myself needing to relate to the characters to become invested, so hopefully I can too! Thanks for the great review!

Magnificent read!

Basara pens an intriguing and thrilling story in Sip Lake. I have read work from this author before, and I really enjoyed it. Once again, we're here at Cypress Lake, and of course, it's not what it seems to be. The story is told from Owen's perspective, and not only is it interesting, and almost hard to believe (I said almost), it's a wonder, as he becomes entranced with the painting that is now his very own "coloring" book. This author has a great imagination and I'm glad it's being shared with stories. Seeing isn't just believing, but it's feeling and hearing as well. Owen meets a grand cast of characters, and him seeing things is just a wonder, something he can use, even if he is quite unsure how to. Welcome to 1977 at Cypress Lake. Owen's story is a very interesting one. This is a magnificent story, kept this reader turning the pages. A definite attention grabber, so much I couldn't put it down. It's a great story to follow and try to figure out what will happen next. This author's characters develop and interacts well with the other characters. The best part of the story is that it is totally unpredictable. Sip Lake is a definite recommendation by Amy's Bookshelf Reviews. I look forward to reading many more stories by this author.

Set in 1977, today's BOTD is a novel told in the first-person narrative that follows Owen Cloud over the course of one summer while living at Sip Lake. Readers will enjoy the ups and downs of Owen's day-to-day interactions with friends, neighbors, and those he works with, as well as his new love interest. I'm looking forward to reading this one. Thank you for the wonderful review! :-)

Although this book isn’t my usual go-to genre, I think it’s interesting to have a book about life and love written from the male character perspective. That’s atypical and will intrigue many potential readers! Congrats on BOTD.

Thank you for your detailed review. I agree that too many silly names in a story, make everything confusing, adding the fact that the story is slow paced, I don't think that I will give it a try.

Owen sounds like an interesting character but I am not sure I could keep track of the odd names. Thank you for your review.

I have a hard time keeping up when there are a lot of side characters. The premise seems interesting though. Thanks for the great review.

Books that are written from a guy's point of view and focus on their relationships and how they view life are interesting reads for me. The storyline of this book sounds good, and I'm sure I'd enjoy it. Congrats on BOTD!.

From your review this didn’t seem like a romance novel at all. Although it would be nice to read about Owen from the 70s. Thanks for your review!

This novel certainly does have an array of characters with imaginative and amusing names. It seems almost everyone has a real name and a more 'colorful' nickname. Using words, the author has painted a picture of Owen's life over the course of a five-month period, his settling in to a cottage by a lake, a new job, and search for romance. As in everyday life, it moves slowly and yet is filled with imagination and sprinkled with color.

I must admit it too. Many romance books when it comes to relationship are from female's POV. Your review was beautiful and the book that's set in Florida would be awesome.

 There seem a lot of characters who have unheard names with difficult in pronouncation. The places mentioned sound alien to me. The story begins with a dialogue, which is okay, but I struggled a lot to relate with the storyline. I'll have to pass on this one. However, there are prospective readers who will like the book very much. Thanks for reviewing and sharing.
