And now for something completely different...
"Water bear" is a less formal term for "tardigrade," a group of tiny animals which can survive in extreme environments, from temperatures near absolute zero to well over the boiling point of water, and they can withstand pressures six times that found in the deepest part of the ocean. They can go without food or water for ten years. I read an account about a tardigrade specimen in a museum that was dormant for 100 years until it came in contact with water.
Then it became reanimated, danced a jig, and asked for a cheeseburger from the cafeteria, despite the "highway robbery" prices.
Okay, I made up that last part.
Anyway, don't say you didn't learn anything today, haha.
