I like reading historical romance and it will be refreshing to read about inter racial romance in that era. Thanks for your review.

This book sounds really fun and interesting. And, even though I do not read a lot of romance books. This is a historical and romantic book, and that piques my interest. Thank you for the review!

Sounds like a breathtaking romance story. I would like to know the kind of punishment that both Lilly and James are awaiting. And how will James' punishment alter Lilly's? I already have the book on my want to read shelf. I will read it. Congratulations on the BOTD.

The story of love, freedom and fate of a slave girl. I would love to know what becomes of Lily. Great review.

This sounds as an interesting proposal, although, it does not look like something I usually read. The romance seems to be a bit common place, so I am afraid of the portrayal of social differences here beyond just a mere -love conquers it all-. Anyway, your review was very clear. Thanks for it.

Lily seems true to be a lovely character with a dark story and a great gift. I don't know if this book is for me since I'm not into romances in historical fiction books. However, it seems to be a good choice for those readers who enjoy romance. It reminds me of a Brazilian soap opera I watched a long time ago. Thanks for the insightful review!

An interesting character in the form of a slave and her adventurous journey sounds quite intriguing.

A love story of a slave. This sounds so unique. This is also emotionally testing. I found the plot extremely interesting and entertaining. The act of the child taken away from the mother is a harsh situation, even by reading this review, I can feel that. I wonder what would have happened if I read this entire book. Thanks for the review! :reading-6: :reading-6: :tiphat:

Romance novels aren't completely my thing, though I did have a V.C. Andrews phase in my teens so at least this wouldn't be entirely outside my comfort zone. The switching accents could have been a neat little metaphor representing James and Lily growing even closer and rubbing off on the other, though judging from the mention of other characters swapping accents it's more likely a small error (assuming there isn't a running theme or logic to the switches).

This is an emotional drama about Lily, a beautiful slave, and her dream of freedom and love. It is interesting that she is a talented pianist. Congratulations to the author for writing this wonderful story chosen as BOTD. Thanks to the reviewer for your excellent review.

Thanks for the detailed review. I really appreciate your comments about dialogue inconsistencies; that kind of thing drives me crazy so I'm glad for the warning. I wonder if there are biases of white privilege evident in the writing? I also like how you described the plot without giving away key details. This encourages me to read the book even though I'm not big on romance.

I love a good romance novel, so the The Prodigy Slave sounds right up my alley. The characters sound relatable and well fleshed-out, and I can't wait to meet them. Thank you so much for your well-written and insightful review! Happy reading :techie-studyinggray:

This book sounds like a great read for fans of drama and good character development. It’s a plus it had no errors, although the accent-switching might be hard to put up with. Thanks for a great review!

Sounds like a great read, but I guess 15 year old me better keep away from this for a while.
