Loved this review, especially because after I read a sample I was afraid that uncle Jack would be an antagonist in this story. After what Marc went through in the first chapter I would not have continued reading the book to be quite honest. Great review, I really enjoyed reading it!

I like the pacing in the few pages I have sampled. The narration is so settled that you'll want to finish the book. Also, knowing that it's about romance and self-realization, I think it's relatable and worth reading.

Goldsmith touches on many themes in Marc Marci. Lesbian and transgender themes are approached...
along with
coming of age story...... the explicit sexual content
- quite a few novel, modern concepts to explore. I think I'll give the book a try. Brilliant review. Thank you.

The author seems to address more than one issue in this book. However, I'm not comfortable reading about the transgender topic along with other topics discussed in this book, so I will skip it. Thanks for this nice review!

While "Marc Marci" appears to address significant issues like acceptance, friendship, and transgender identity, there are several elements of the story that should cause concern or call for critical analysis:

1. Pacing and Transition: Some readers could think that Marc to Marci's transition was too quick and lacked emotional weight. The decision to transition and the ensuing quick realization of gender identity may come across as unrealistic or glossed over, which takes away from the sincerity of Marci's journey.

2. Character Development: The characters, particularly the supporting ones, may not have received enough attention. Although Cristina, Gabrielle, and Uncle Jack play significant roles in Marci's life, readers may find it challenging to empathize with them on a deeper level because their personalities and motivations aren't completely explored.

3. Absence of Internal Conflict: The narrative seems to depict Marci's change and trip as being reasonably easygoing and trouble-free. This may minimize the very real difficulties that many transgender people have, including self-doubt, prejudice, and social isolation. An in-depth examination of these difficulties might give a more accurate picture of Marci's experiences.

4. Closed-ended and conclusive The story's failure to provide an answer to some philosophical issues may leave some readers dissatisfied. Open-endedness might be exciting, but it might also leave readers seeking a clearer resolution or better understanding of the characters' motivations.

5. Depth of Themes: Although the story briefly mentions significant themes like transgender identity and lesbian identity, some readers may feel that these subjects are just briefly touched upon. The struggles and development of the characters may be better understood if these issues were explored in greater detail.

6. The dialogue and writing style might occasionally come out as unnecessarily didactic or explanatory, which detracts from the organic flow of character interactions and conversation.

7. Plot Development: The plot development may feel predictable or fall short of surprising the reader. Unexpected twists or difficulties could increase the story's level of engagement.

8. Cultural Representation: Even though the plot concerns the Jewish faith and the Chabad college outreach, the depiction may not adequately reflect the depth and diversity of these elements. The cultural features might become more believable and relatable with more thorough investigation and nuanced portrayal.

It's crucial to remember that opinions are subjective and that they might differ substantially depending on personal preferences and viewpoints. While pointing out potential areas for development, constructive criticism also values the work's strong points.

Marc Marci" is a powerful read for young adults seeking support and insight into LGBTQ experiences. The book revolves around romance, friendship, and self-discovery. The novel encourages empathy and understanding while celebrating the complexities of identity and the importance of genuine friendships.

I read the little introductory note of the book and then came to read this review. Initially I was a little skeptical about whether I should be reading this book or choose some other title; but this review here gave me a reason to pick this book. I absolutely adore books that features great detailing of nature and landscapes, and when the reviewer mentioned that they felt the wind While reading the book, all my inhibitions vanished with that wind.
I am also willing to explore the journey of Marc to Marci. Let's see what this book has for me.

Embarking on a journey with this intriguing book! The revelation of Marci's true identity, not Marc, is an absolute plot twist. The steadfast presence of her friend and uncle adds so much depth to her inspiring journey.

Well, I'm not a fan of gender changes or transgender novels, and I believe those who are in alignment with that would love this book. Congratulations on BOTD!

This is a very beautiful story. How Marci was able to get all the support she needed from Uncle Jack and family. This really depicts the type of families that we need, the ones to support us irrespective of what we go through.

Having to live life feeling 'different' can be frustrating and at times depressing. For Marc, Marci, at least she had her uncle and his family and friends for support. Exploring the themes of lesbianism and transgender can be controversial and I'd love to see how the author handles this. I'd like to know what philosophical question was not answered as well!!

This is not the type of book I usually enjoy reading, I admire transgender people because they have to go through so many difficulties before being able to be authentic, but is not a journey I want to read about.

I love that the author's sense of writing in bringing the reader's emotions and presence into the story is described, but I don't fancy this type of story about gender transformation and transitioning.
