Slavery, inherently cruel, takes on an even darker shade when a young daughter is lost to it. The pain intensifies when the baby's father, Levi, is complicit in selling his own daughter, despite desperate pleas against it in a heartbreaking attempt to keep their beloved child.

Lily was ripped out of her mother's arms to be made a slave? The thought itself is horrifying. I hope that through her friendship with James and her passion for playing piano set her free. I liked that minor characters have good backstory and motive as well. Good review.

I saw this book a while back and thought it had a really nice plot. However, it's not something I'd like to read because the pacing seemed a bit too slow for me when I read a sample. Regardless, congrats on BOTD!

The book weaves a poignant tale of Lily's journey from loss to newfound passion. The characters are richly developed, provoking a range of emotions. The writing captivates with exquisite details, although the fluctuating accents can be momentarily confusing. Overall, a compelling historical romance.

Interesting! Why did James threaten to punish Lily for playing the piano when he was a friend? Lily's life and purpose make a great story I might enjoy.

The Prodigy Slave (non-erotica version) is the story of a girl named Lily who was ripped out of her mother's arms at age nine and sold by her father at a negro auction. I was happy that she made friends with James and thrilled that she secretly taught herself how to play the piano. May cause triggers due to inappropriate behaviors, sexual misconduct, mistreatment of slaves, racial slurs, and violence. This book is for fans of historical romance. Terrific book review!

What a romance! I think this is a bit too much for me. I'll skip it. Thank you for the review.
