I think the author could definitely benefit from the reviewer's recommendations. Fans of paranormal fiction may enjoy reading this novel, but I am worried about the many similarities with Stephenie Meyer's Twilight series.

I agree with the rating that you gave this story because of the issues that you highlighted. It would have served the author better to become familiar with Australian culture especially the manner in which they speak. I also believe that it is odd for an Australian teen to be very familiar with American pop culture. I understand that we export everything including our culture around the world, but still.

This is a very helpful review! I have read the first chapter and find the story interesting so far. Because of your review it sounds like a book I will enjoy reading. I do find it disappointing that there won't be more Australian culture and sayings mentioned. I always enjoy learning something new when I'm reading a book.

Great review! I'm curious about this one, but as I understand, it's on the shorter side (around 61k words) so I definitely feel like giving it a shot. And now that you say that the ending is different than you predicted it would be, I'm even more intrigued!

As for the topic of Australian culture, I do think that would have added an interesting level of realism to the novel, but I also think it's understandable for Australian characters to be familiar with American references. Maybe if there was a balance between the two?

I like romance novels especially those with a supernatural twist. Melanie and Jason seem like interesting characters, and I look forward to seeing where their relationship takes them.

Excellently written review. Melanie's journey sounds like a book I might like to read though urban fantasy is not my usual genre!
Thanks for setting a recommended age cut-off for readers of this book.

Thank you for this review. I look forward to reading this book. I appreciate you also being honest about maybe not allowing younger readers to read this book. I have young cousins that like to read my books on my kindle, so this was helpful! thank you!

I am interested in reading this story that sounds solid, with some things to be improved upon. The story that begins with a certain innocence but quickly delves into more complex situations sounds like a perfect summer read.

I have to thank you for this specific review. You were in tune with this book enough to understand who should and shouldn't read it. I have advanced children and I have quit censoring their books once they hit are 10 years old, since they are reading at the same level as me. Based on your review I will not be allowing my youngest daughter to be reading this book just yet. It will make its way onto my wishlist but will be not allowed on hers. It seems like it would be a great book to take on a plane or while traveling. So that's where it is going to be put on the travel wishlist. Thanks again for this extensive review.

Thank you for your review. It confirmed that this wasn't a book for my shelves; not a genre that interests me.

Thank you for the detailed review. I notice though that you refer to a lack of safe sex practices by the teen characters. I have to point out that it was addressed in a later chapter just not in detail during the scene.

Am glad you emphasized on the audience this book should go to.
