I've never really met or known a curate. I'm sure I'll know a lot about being a curate from this memoir. Moreso, I'm interested in knowing how the author navigates his love life as a curate.

I really thought the book is about Richard’s love to Ann but as I read the book further, it reveals more of the author’s religious accounts of his duty in the ministry, his doubts and his love in curating. All in all, it’s a good read :)

This seems like an interesting memoir. The author's story is very captivating and I would love to find out more about his religious experiences and what decisions he made in the role he got.

This memoir is a religious book with great content on Christian history. The book follows Richard as he takes up pastoral responsibilities at a new church. There, we meet Ann, a polar opposite love interest. Richard's new life makes for a great read and introduces readers to many new concepts.

"A Curate in Love" by Richard Hughes is a captivating memoir that chronicles the author's experiences as an assistant curate in Mold, England. The book offers a poignant exploration of faith, love, and personal struggles, highlighted by Richard's internal conflict between his commitment to the curacy and the challenging realities he encounters.

I think it is bold for a curate like Richard to be in love with someone who does not agree with his religious beliefs. Nice review!

I am sorry to say, but I don't like memoirs as a genre as it is; adding to that dislike my total lack of interest in anything related to religion, and it will become obvious why I will have to pass on this book. Unfortunately, my experience of church wasn't positive enough to instill respect in the institution. Still, congratulations on BOTD!

The author shares his experiences as an assistant curate of Mold. The rich Christian history is something I look forward to read. The complicated vocabulary might be difficult for me to stay focused without interruptions. Nevertheless, I still would like to read.

Thank you for the review. Ive also had to question some life decisions based on current situations. Don't we all? That's a true test of our convictions. I hope Hughes passed his excellently.

This is a memoir of the author detailing his curacy experiences and love story with Ann. His love story and his curacy experiences came with their set of hurdles. How does he deal with them? The book is more about Christianity than the author's love story.

“A Curate of Love” by Richard Hughes is a memoir that covers his life as the assistant Curate of Mold. Hughes’ father was an Anglican minister and Richard followed in his footsteps. When he was ordained, he was assigned to the Mold church and when he met with the Vicar, he found a man that was stuck in his ways and wanted Richard to just follow his rules. Richard had a girlfriend named Ann that he really loved and planned to marry. The Vicar told him he would be paid quarterly and it was not enough money to live on. He talked to the bishop, who changed his pay to monthly. Richard began having doubts about becoming a Curate primarily due to the low wages and the Vicar who would not bend and did not like new ideas that were not his. Ann is a total opposite to Richard in her beliefs so maybe opposites are made for one another. I enjoyed the sample and I look forward to reading the entire book.

The book is very interesting most likely if your more related to religious & Christian stuff though the vocabulary makes it hard to read but I love the book "A CURATE IN LOVE" such an interesting book with interesting tittle.
