One of the most sophisticated premise among all the books I read about recently. Review represents it beautifully - complicated, a bit dark, a bit rough - like a life itself. I won't say I would enjoy every moment of it, but it sure will be interesting.

Great review, I like your summary. I think this is a really cool book, especially as the violence you described doesn't put me off.

Her internal turmoil aside, the things she had endured—and continue to endure on a nightly basis—are not for the weak of heart…or stomach. Readers who may be triggered by mentions and depictions of rape and other forms of sexual assault should stay away from this book. Torture, aggression, and violence also abound, the gruesomeness intensifying with each chapter. While gratuitous at times, there’s a disquieting truth behind these morbid situations. After all, what acts have the “demons” in the story committed—be it rape, torture, or murder—that a regular human being hasn’t done in real life?
This makes me sad. I had read a few pages and found the story quite compelling. However to find out there is this much violence in it I am afraid that I will not finish it. Thank you though for your excellent review.

:techie-studyingbrown: I believe in the existence of demons, angels, and bad dreams, but I am afraid to read the story because of the dark side of it. I feel very emotional about the acts of demons in our society.

From what I've read, this book is just too dark for my taste. I'm not interested in reading about love triangles, or in reading explicit rape and torture scenes.

Based on the review, this doesn’t sound like anything I would ever want to read. I’m not a fan of the romance genre and then adding in the rape scenes doesn’t appeal to me.

Nightmares where your own inner demon can kill you? This sounds like my type of jam! And the romance on top of that is the peanut butter to this pb&j

inaramid, thank you for a thorough and balanced review. I don't disagree with many of the comments that violence and rape are terrible things, but such things sadly do happen in real life. Literature that explores them and seeks to understand such phenomena has a place, though of course everyone has their own level of tolerance for such issues. The portion that I have read seems well-written, so the fact that you were working with an uncorrected proof does seem to account for the typos you mentioned. In any event, very good work here.

This is a unique idea for a book, but a little too close to the demonic for me.

This book looks super interesting. I already feel connected to Jaime's character, and her story as a dream hunter is different and awesome. How will she and Collin fare?

I am not exactly sure on what it is there is not much of the book author written description and or written in the review that drawls my attention into wanting to read this book. It just seems like it may be a little to busy for me right now.

The creative and unique storyline of today's BOTD is definitely one that dark paranormal romance fans will enjoy! Your insightful review was helpful, and I appreciate your great attention to detail. Nice work! While I don't think this is the one for me, I still found your review engaging and very well-written. Thank you! :-)

Purgatory's Angel by B. Hughes-Millman is a #Paranormal #Romance with the ingenious premise, compelling storylines, and a strong heroine. I'd like to get to know Jaime Connor, one of the mightiest archangels in heaven - sent to earth to stop demons from claiming another victim in their sleep. Your review has sparked my interest to read the entire story. Thank you.
