How would you feel to be in a committed relationship with a person yet to only have them physically? Do you think that you could stand to be in a contract that does not stimulate you mentally? While in a marriage would it be considered adultery to spend every night away from your bed and spend long hours through the night communicating with that person that piques your mind frame? If you were the partner that was left out would you try to change yourself to try to get the attention of your significant other? This is a great yet bittersweet love story. It is easy to read. However, it could shine a new light own being in relationships.

The Looking Glass Friends by E.L. Neve is a story that surrounds two families/couples. There are Neil and Fay. They are currently in a four-year marriage. Neil works as a cashier at Bake 4U, and Fay blows glass. Then there is Ellie and Jake who are also married and have a son together. Ellie is a homemaker while Jake is a wealthy dealer in antique interments. Every Friday Neil knows that Elie will come into Bake 4U to purchase a particular pastry.

One particular Friday the Neil was saving the only box of that specific pastry to take home to his wife, Fay. He ends up giving it to Ellie when she comes to the store that evening. In light of his kindness, Ellie later gifts Neil with one of her favorite books, which put a whole new life aspect in Neil after reading it. With he and Fay going on vacation Neil leaves the book along with a letter for the baker to give to Ellie the next time she was in Bake 4U. With Neil's letter igniting something within Ellie she then writes back to him also including her e-mail address and mobile phone number so that he can contact her directly. Leading night after night of the two staying up late conversing with one another. Through the e-mails and later phone calls that the two of them became close friends for their soul was like a mirror reflection to the others. However, with both Neil and Ellie in both in marriages of their own will the stimulation that they find in each other tear the two families apart? Will they stop communicating with each other for the sake of their spouse or family? Is it possible for either of them to continue with their lives as it is as only being in their current relationship in physical form? Alternatively, will the heart and body eventually yearn for that person that stimulates the mind?

I think that this is a great book. I feel that it shines a light on relationships that no one wants to see, admit or discuss. I believe that everyday people are in relationships just in the physical form. I applaud the author for creating such a tasteful story of this type of love or what turns out to not be true love. I like that the chapters were easy to read and understand. I like the way/reflection of each character individually. It was altogether an excellent book to read.

There is nothing that I can say that I did not like about reading this story. There is nothing that I would add to it nor take away from it. In my opinion, it was a very well written book with just the right balance for every character that was in it.

I would recommend this book to everyone. However, especially to people who are in to love stories. Along with those who believe in soul mates. I also think that it can be a good book for people who find themselves unhappy with their current relationship.

My overall rating for Looking Glass Friends is 4 out of 4-stars. There were not any errors that I came across. The storyline was great. The writing had a good flow to it. It gave a great balance view of and from each of the protagonists. I will also say that this is a book that I can see myself reading many times. In my opinion, the author wrote a book of perfection. Therefore, I give it a perfect score.

I agree. This story reflects the rise in society of making friends online and ignoring the person at our side. You have made me curious as to how this relationship turns out!! I really enjoyed your review. Thanks for the excellent recommendation.

I think that this highlights a very disruptive methodology that is occurring in society today, thinking that people online or not actually in your life, are more important than those that are. This book is probably not for me -- very nice review!
