Probably reading the synopsis will tell you what its actually about.

It sounds simple but when I read the synopsis at the back of the book, I had no idea that it was erotica. I started reading it and when I realized what I had gotten myself into, I was like Oh my goodness, what have I done?!
And it annoys me to stop a book midway so I persevered and finished it. Definitely not my favorite,but at least I can say I read some erotica!

I tried to read Fifty Shades and ended up giving up on page 158. I didn't find it sexy at all, I found it abusive and disrespectful. BDSM relationships centre around love and respect none of which I found in the book. xxx

The thing about those erotic (or porno) books and movies, if youve seen one you've seen them all. There all the same thing, some of them with a little different twist, ceiling fans, ironing boards and kitchen utensels but basicly the same thing.

I've never read Fifty Shades of Grey but the idea that I have is that it's all about erotica. It was good to come across this topic. Now I'm definitely not reading these books.

Wow, was Fifty Shades of Grey first published that long ago? Must be the movies that made it seem like just yesterday the world went crazy because of it. It's very... not something I'd choose if I wasn't pushed to read it. And I was way too young to even give it a chance so I stopped early on and never picked it up again. I get the general idea of what went on and the movies were a help. I appreciate it as a well-written book but it simply isn't my kind of reading material. Christina Grey is very domineering and Ana is a sheep, very shy, quiet, and takes a long time to mature. If the movies are anything like the books, according to the very end of the trilogy, only then she gets some self-power enough to be her own woman, not a favorite plaything of her "Master". E.L James certainly had a lot of creative strength to write characters this different and putting them in the kind of romantic, "love and HEA" story. That's quite an accomplishment.

I actually read the whole trilogy and I can see why people would immediately think the series to be nothing more than just erotica But, it actually is a really compelling story. I mean when I first read it, I thought it just erotica too. But, then everyone went crazy for the series and it started to get promoted everywhere so I got curious again and read the whole trilogy front to back. First book had a lot of sex but at the end of the first you notice the Dominant isn't as cold and twisted as he seems, then with the second and third you see that the main characters "agreement" turns into a pretty heart racing romance and they actually car for each other. so, I thought it was pretty good.

Hear me out, I haven't read a single word out of that book and girls around me gush about the guy but I stand alone with my copy of Percy Jackson. Confused to the core as to why people fawn over abuse.

Essentially it's about a damaged billionaire falling in love with a daisy-fresh college girl, but the road to get there is full of steamy BDSM and misunderstandings. It's basically erotica, but the characters aren't half-bad. Beware of triggering elements.

I am currently reading this book and I don't found it as good as said by others. This book contains erotic theme but the author has repeatedly used some scenes and sentences that made it a bit uninteresting to read.

The 50 Shades series is THE BEST series I have ever read! It's more than just sex and dominatrix stuff. There's actually a story there which makes it that much better. Reading the books you get to picture everything in your mind of what you think it looks like based on the authors' description. Then watching the movies after you get roped right back in "literally speaking" I own the book series as well as the movies! Good read GUARANTEED!! (If you're into that sort of thing

I am very shocked to hear all the bad reviews of this series. I absolutely loved it. I have re-read it a few times and have watched the movies multiple times as well. It's not even really about the BDSM part of it (I mean, it helps, lol) but I do enjoy the storyline and that a lot of it keeps you at the edge of your seat. But, it's not for everyone.
