In the wonderful book called One Way Or Another by Mary J. Williams, a story unfolds about a wealthy family of sisters with an out of whack mother and different father situations. This was a great book that kept pulling me in. Between the love story and the mysterious demeanor of the book it kept me surprised and looking forward to each chapter. There are a handful of grammar errors, I have noted them to be entered in the review process. The descriptive parts of intimacy were described tastefully without too much detail for it to be labeled as erotic. I will give this book a 4 out of 4 star rating. Even though there were few errors, I still think the author deserves a 4 on this one for keeping the reader so interested.
Calder Benedict is a sister of four, one being her twin sister with an unusual story to share. Based in New York City, the busy lives of these four women each come with a story to tell. Each having different Father’s and all sharing the same mother; they grew up with a closer bond than one would think possible. As each one chases their dream careers, they watch their mother flaunt around like a selfish promiscuous teenager, so they learn to rely on each other for strength and guidance in life.
Each of the girls grew up cynical of marriage or any relationship due to their lack of parental guidance and example. Calder, however meets an interesting man who she never thought would end up giving her such unexpected feelings. Care free, full of peace and trust for the first time in her life, Calder and Adam get closer and soon will see a change in their beliefs on love. Meanwhile, the sisters do all they can to protect their foolish mother from making a huge mistake with the not so trustworthy current boyfriend of her own.
I would encourage anyone to read this book from high school age and up. I can say that it made me think of the TV series Gossip Girl. I also loved the names of the characters. Each one was very unique. The author's creativity was spectacular. There's a very minimal amount of curse words in this book. I have enjoyed reading it and plan to read the next three after it in the series.
Finally, the story had an unexpected twist at the end that most would appreciate. It makes the mind wonder what intentions the characters really had and what to think of future books in the series. I honestly think these books would make a great tv series or movie.
