Lost and Love: Thailand (Book One of the Lost and Love Series) by Stella Knights
If you are looking for a reason to pour yourself a drink, get cozy on the couch, and get lost in a good book on a warm, summer night, Lost and Love: Thailand (Book One of the Lost and Love Series) is a perfect choice. In fact, it might even make your insides a little warmer: this is a book of high passion and romance, a book about life choices and their consequences, about a character that will go distances chasing a good vibe around the globe.
There's not much special about the main person of the book, Savvanah: she is an (idle) American living in Sydney, working a mediocre job and working on dreams that aren't her own (mortgage payments, bathroom renovation). Her main issue though is that she feels her marriage isn't fulfilling enough and she longs for the love, passion, and understanding of her now very busy husband. Savannah gets the idea of a romantic get-away holiday to Thailand, much to the dismay of her pragmatic partner, in the hopes the both of them can release themselves from the strains of the everyday monotony, explore the passion and get closer to each other.
Obviously unhappy in her sex life, it is one of the first things she wants to "fix", but Savannah seems not to be aware of how sexual phantasies differ between the people. The story goes on to one single special night on an island in Thailand. This passion outburst seems to change everything in her relationship. Will she be able to forget it happened? Is her marriage saved or doomed? One thing is for sure: she will never be the same person again.
The novel is very graphic and contains many erotic/sexual scenes that are described very detailed. However, I felt that Stella Knights repeatedly found a tasteful, even decent way to describe the most intimate scenes. The editing of the book is nearly perfect, as I only spotted a few minor errors, not worth mentioning. In addition, what I quite liked was that the last few pages of the book even compound a minor travel guide book to Thailand: where to find the best places to visit, the good restaurants, the marvelous beaches.
As this is my first romance novel in a fairly long reading career, I thought I would be more critical of the genre and the language use. It almost feels awkward to say there was nothing I disliked about this novel. One of the things I liked most is how Savannah transforms from a tame, shy mouse into a strong, capable woman who isn't afraid of the unknown, or questioning herself and the others. Her love for traveling, exploring other cultures and getting lost in the process (physically or mentally) just makes her a very likable character.
I'd be glad to recommend this book to any adult with a taste for passion and Wanderlust. To me, this novel deserves a perfect 4 out of 4 score. I'm looking forward to reading the other books in this series.
