Lost and Love: Thailand (Book one of the lost and love series) by Stella Knights is a book about romance, love, loss, and rebirth. In the first book of the series, we have a woman named Savanna who is unfulfilled in her marriage, her job and is fed up with her in-laws. While she was at work, she sees a poster that sparks a memory of her dream to travel and that is how the need to visit Thailand developed. From there she managed to get her husband to agree and, with her friend Pam's unwavering support of the trip and the very risqué plans while there, they eventually go to Thailand. While there, Savanna and her husband, Johnny, have experiences that impact their relationship and a new person enters their life that will impact them for the better and the worse, and his name is Zander. When their trip is abruptly cut short Savanna is given the opportunity to finally think of only herself and what she wants out of life. The next step she takes could make her life better or make it even more complicated.
Lost and Love: Thailand is a very interesting and engrossing story. Savanna, the main character, is a relatable person because she has problems, insecurities and hopes as we all do. You find yourself rooting for her to get her happily ever after. Another aspect of this novel that I loved was at the end the author talks about places to see and things to do if you were to ever visit Thailand. The book makes it sound like such a beautiful place that you want to see for yourself and by providing that information, the author lets you know that it is possible. This story is a page-turner that has very little mistakes and it captivates you so well that you are able to envision each scene in your head as the story unfolds.
There are only two things that I found a little hard to understand in this book. The first is that the conflict at the end was climatic but unfinished. You never really know what prompts it, you only have the guesses of the main character as to what caused it. That left me kind of confused because, while the book is a cliffhanger, I would really have liked to understand the actual origin of the conflict then an "I heard you", heard you doing what? The second thing I didn't like, and this is a personal preference, is leaving the story off where they did. Cliffhangers are great and they keep you coming back for more every time. However, I would have loved for her to make the decision before the end of the book, so the new story can kind of start with her going on her new adventure.
I give this book a solid 4 out of 4 score. It was an amazing book that pulled you in from the beginning and would not let go until the end. There were a few minor things that I was confused about, but they were more personal preference than anything else and relatively small. If the second book came out today, I would absolutely read it because I can't wait to continue reading about Savanna's adventures and her life.
I would recommend that this book be an 18+ book and for mature adults only. Since it is a romance it has some very graphic scenes and experiences that some may find objectional due to their beliefs. There is also some very minor cursing that consists of mostly one particular word and it was only found about 7-8 times throughout the whole book. Due to all that, only adults should really be reading this book, but honestly the down-to-earth, imperfection of all the characters and the romance of it all just made it all the better for me. It turned it into a story that I will be reading again and again.
