One Way or Another by Mary J. Williams is on a whole different level. This book had me wanting more and more as I read on. Mary has a wonderful way of keeping the readers engaged in the book. She makes the reader feel connected with the main character, Calder. This book is creative and innovative. Mary kept me up well past bedtime. I wanted to know what was around the next corner with each turn of the page.

I believe for this particular book, reading the Prologue is an important part of understanding Calder and her sisters, also known and referred to as “The Benedict Sisters”. Their undeniable bond as sisters is very clear as the story starts. It is clear from the beginning that the four sisters, Calder, Andi, Bryce, and Desi have a special place in their home that they can get together to share their most sacred secrets with each other. They also have the benefit that they won't get disturbed when they are in their special room. Their mother, Billie Benedict, is given a certain kind of persona when she is first mentioned. It’s like she lives in her own special world. The Prologue also brought in some interesting facts but the biggest kicker to me was the fact that Calder and her twin sister, Bryce, don’t share the same father.

Although Mary starts off the book with the main character starting off with a date and the date wanting sex more than anything, it says a lot about Calder and her morales in regards to how she responded to her dates’ “come-on's”. It sets the mood of the book and sex is the last thing on Calders' mind. Even though Calder and her sisters are rich, Calder is very down to Earth and doesn’t let her wealthy family set the tone for how she wants to live her life or define her. Calder's constant run-ins to Adam make each encounter seem like they will intensify with each meeting. These two are drawn together and the connection is undeniable.

The tone of Billie, Calder’s mother, and her newest fling, Ingo Hunter, also make the book very intriguing. Ingo Hunter was noticed by name by Calder right away and it kept me wanting to learn more about why he was such a noticeable character. Billie and Ingo always seemed to creep up in the background of the book but didn’t take the focus off of Calder.

After reading One Way or Another, I would give it a 4/4 . I loved this book so much. Mary really made me feel like I was a part of this special bond of the four Benedict sisters. Their special bond makes book extra special and even more intriguing. I believe this book is "exceptionally flawless." I can't recall any grammatical errors. Ingo Hunter is a character I don't think will ever find a way into my "good characters" list based on his persona so far. I believe that it is best for young adults and adults alike. I would not recommend this book for teens because I think it is a little too detailed for their age range. Her continuation of books in this series are sure to be promising and I can’t wait to dig in.

Erotic Scenes: Page 97 Calder and Adam at his car explaining a teenage fantasy beginning to play out. Rating for this is 2 out of 10.
Page 214 - Starts at “Calder didn’t have time to enjoy the novelty of the moment.”, and ends on page 217. Rating for this erotic scene is a 9 out of 10.

First instance of profanity: Page 13- “I want to f*ck you, not be your friend.”
