From your description of the more resilient twin letting go of the man she loves for her sister, I know this is not a book I would enjoy. I would be yelling at her not to step aside without at least letting him know how she feels. The pain leads to resentment, which leads to serious issues later, both in the relationships and inside. Thank you for a great review!

This does not seem like something I'd be particularly interested in. I enjoy romances but I hate when the plot is " I love you but we can't be together because of some greater good". The angst is too much for me to handle. I would relate way too much to Miranda and get my heart shattered.

Miranda's story is heartbreaking. She had to step up and be the strong sister when their parents died and when she finally meets someone, he leaves her for Cindy. That is gut wrenching. I do hope everything worked out for her after she moved. Thank you for your wonderful and convincing review.

"Beyond Despair" by Shirley Hoisington is a story about two twin girls and their lives after their parents were killed in a car accident. Miranda and Cindy were devastated by their parent's death. Miranda was stoic while Cindy spent six months in a care facility in a catatonic state. Years later Miranda met Roger and they began dating. A few months later Miranda introduces Cindy to Roger and Roger was mesmerized by Cindy. Roger asked Cindy for permission to date Cindy, not realizing that Miranda was in love with him. Miranda thought that Roger would realize that she was the one for him until Cindy fell in love with Roger and they began planning their wedding. Miranda needs to get away because of her heartbreak and she moves to another city for a fresh start. She had always confided in Cindy but could not do so since Cindy was in love with Roger. This is an interesting love story that one needs to read to find out what happens to the twins. A good read and a very good review.

I am curious to see how Miranda overcame her heartbreak when Roger asked to date her twin Cindy. She probably also felt a sense of betrayal so this dynamic intrigues me. This book sounds interesting so congratulations on BOTD.

Mirinda is really a good person putting her happiness first before others. I can't imagine dating a guy and then he will ask my permission to date, my twin. That must hurt very badly. This is a captivating story. Congrats on the BOTD.

I wonder how Miranda would have felt… Someone you love asking for permission to date your sister? That’s funny. I love this. Great review!

For the excerpt this is a very aptly titled book. The writing is great, but you truly feel Miranda’s despair at her sister marrying the person she loves. I really hope things get better for Miranda in the rest of the book.

I hate these kinds of tropes: the sibling trope, the love triangle trope, and many more. Most times, I do not give way to these kinds of tropes and I just do not finish the book when I found out it has these kinds of tropes. Maybe I would read this because I am now trying to like more kinds of romance books, and most romance books have these tropes.

Thank you for the review!

‘All too frequently, authors seem to equate pornography with love.’ That's a bit strong, isn't it? You're saying their work is of no literary value other than to stimulate sexual desire! Anyway, I see your point: romance is more than just sex.

Oh, see how "responsibility" sometimes make us bite more than we can chew. I think if Miranda had had a glimpse of what her life will turn into, she might have reconsidered her choice. From this review, I am fascinated, how the writer weaves passion with love and it results to tragedy, as far as the story contains. I wish I could know the fate of Miranda after her departure, I just hope... I just hope... Smiles

I wonder what one can find in one twin and not in another. It's sad to think of the pain Miranda goes through just to see her sister happy. Great review. Well done.

Yes, yes, yes, a thousand times yes! This is exactly the type of book I like to enjoy on a Friday night. I can't wait to read this I am so excited. Its sad how many book have so many errors that it impacts the score but I'm sure with a final round of editing this will be a 4 star book. Great review very honest and impactful, thank you.

I'm not a fan of romance, so I have to skip this book. Unrequited love is one of the worst things you can experience, especially if you can't find someone else who will surpass your attraction. It's more complicated knowing that you have a twin who happens to be your rival in love. Congratulations on the BOTD.

It seems like a typical love triangle played out in this novel. It will definitely fascinate romantics. Kudos to the author.
