I rate One Way Or Another by Mary J. Williams 4 out of 4 stars. Is this the best book ever written? A master piece? No. But this was so incredibly enjoyable to read and sometimes that’s all you want from a novel. This book centres around one of four sisters, Calder, and focuses on the relationship between her and the mysterious Adam.

Although it did not mention it in the summary, I could see so many elements inspired by pride and prejudice, which I absolutely loved! For example, Adam has some prejudice towards Calder in the beginning because she was born from a rich family. It shows the bond between four sisters, and an unlikable mother. I loved the chemistry between Calder and Adam. They started off as such a well suited pair, and as the story went on I could practically feel the sexual tension from my kindle. There is sexual content, so tread carefully, but I would not consider this an erotica but more of a rom com. I definitely recommend this to anyone just looking to put a smile on their face. The romance is the main story, but I loved how much it focused on the four sisters. We got so much backstory for every individual sister and their relationships with each other.

The only thing I can think of that I didn’t enjoy was perhaps the ending. I think that the ending could have had a bit more sizzle to it. It seemed like something was always happening but then and the conclusion was a bit unsatisfying. However, this could just be because it is the first book in a series, and maybe the things I’m hoping for are resolved in the next one. All I can say is that I definitely can’t wait to continue the story!

The writing was easy to get into and the story had good pacing. It was also edited well. There was some profanity. On page 16 of 411, 5%, the word ‘bitch’ was used. The same word is used again near the end of the story, but apart from those two instances there is no other profanity that I can recall.

I look forward to reading more from this author and this series, and I would definitely encourage everyone to give it a go. Yes, it’s a bit cheesy and has some cliché moments, but it was done in a way where it fit into the story.
