Sugar & Spice by H M Irving was a riveting and thrilling love story with a twist. I loved the way that it wasn't just explicit scenes or soppy love eyes. There was however several explicit scenes at a rating of 3/5 which was well written without being crude. I smiled and frowned and loved with them. I found the book to be a smooth reading experience. I loved the real life interaction between two modern day characters the most. The sassy replies from the heroine and the disbelief of the hero that she dared. I “disliked” the fact that once I was engrossed in the novel that it was hard to put down, to such an extent that I completed it in one sitting.

The author imparted a lot of information on two very different nationalities and what would be the most realistic conflict between them. The author created two easily loved characters, even though the prince was arrogant and smug, his love for the heroine and the fact that he bend rules for her that he won’t not otherwise dared endears him to the reader. She is strong and intelligent and brave.

As one of a twin, the intelligent and socially awkward one, had her first sexual experience in the arms of a Saudi prince. That night changed her life more than she could possibly imagine at that point. The novel leads us on a merry chase of early love and strong emotions. Even though she does not want to want him, she does. He is adamant in his need to have her, need her. The tale takes us on exotic destinations and beautiful Saudi palaces. The descriptive texts makes you “see” not just read the sights and scents on her journey. When the prince is placed in a situation, he follows his heart but that decision makes the final decision of losing her. She does not share. Making hard decisions and running away is not always the option but when you have more than yourself to consider it makes it easy to decide. Her heart will always be his but he must leave her one last time to save her life and rectify his mistakes.

This novel is perfect for adults that love love-stories and due to the erotic scenes and profanity it will not be suitable for the young or mild a heart. I rate this novel 4 out of 4 stars as it was delightful and well written with very few mistakes on grammar and typos.
