Review by Kimberlycombs -- 2612 Cherryhill Lane by Glenn Vo
First off, I have to say that this was an amazing book to read, I would definitely give it 4 out of 4 stars. The way Glenn Vo portrayed his characters was astounding. If you like to feel inspired by a good love story but are not into cheesy romance books, this is for you. The two main characters showed love toward each other, 2612 Cherryhill Lane is a book a teenager or adult could read and not feel guilty about. I could see the characters developing throughout the whole novel as well.
I do love a book where the emotions the character feels are transferred to the reader; sadness, laughter, joy, and sometimes pain. For example, I wanted to jump into the book and comfort Johnathon by the end of Act 1. He was sad and lonely and he felt everyone was leaving him behind. There were also a few parts of the book where the characters made me laugh out loud.
Let me back up a moment and summarize 2612 Cherryhill Lane for you. Here you have a young quarterback with a bright future ahead of him and suddenly it was ripped from him in an instant. A few years pass and he’s a little older but has not forgiven himself for the mistakes he has made. But then an unexpected person comes into his life and everything changes. Things start looking up for Johnathon.
I appreciated that this was not a cheesy romance novel and it did not get graphic, there was chemistry between the characters and it portrayed off the paper. I think the author of 2612 Cherryhill Lane could have given a little bit more attention to detail on a few of the scenes where Johnathon visits. He is confined to a wheelchair; the places he visits should have given more detail on how he managed to get around, but definitely a good read.
2612 Cherryhill Lane was easy to read and easy to follow. I only found one mistake, I believe. I think Glenn Vo wanted to say church instead of school on page 156, but again I am not sure. I do know that 2612 Cherryhill Lane was professionally edited, the wording was used properly and I did not find any grammar errors or misspellings. The book was focused around football, but again it was easy to follow without too much football jargon. I also noticed that there was no profanity and no vulgar language in this novel.
I would recommend 2612 Cherryhill Lane to Christians, hopeless romantics, young readers and anyone who likes a good football story. I would also recommend this book to anyone looking to be inspired, I sure was.
