I chose the book 2612 Cherryhill Lane by Glenn Vo to read from the genre that I enjoy reading. This book was about a high school football player, Jonathan, who had great talent playing the sport. He led his team to victory at the last game of the season and went to celebrate with his family and girlfriend. While he drove to the restaurant with his sister in the passenger seat, they had an accident. He had looked at his phone to answer a text from his girlfriend and lost control, barely missing another vehicle yet crashing into a large oak tree. His sister passed away in the accident and he ended up losing both legs. Jonathan ends up meeting a girl who helps him out of his depression and to live life again.

I give this book a 4 out of 4. I gave it this rating because I found it pleasantly surprised me that I enjoyed a book about an athlete. I usually do not like to read books with athletes in but this one kept my interest. It took me a little while to really get into the book because it started with a football game. I think it would have been more interesting for that scene to be a flashback.

This book was edited very well. I didn’t see any grammatical or spelling errors. It shows that the editor did well. I have read several books that had so many errors that it distracted me from the story because I don’t like errors in what I read. If a book has made it as far as being published there shouldn’t be any errors in it.

I would recommend 2612 Cherryhill Lane to an audience that enjoys Christian romance and inspirational stories. I think it would be appropriate for young adult readers as well as adults. As an assistant librarian I would not categorize this book any younger than young adult. There are some sensitive issues within the book that are more appropriate for older readers.

Overall, this book very enjoyable. There were a few minor things that I personally would change but I am very picky with the books I like. As I said before I think the beginning could have used a more attention-getting scene. A football game just doesn’t catch my attention, I almost decided to quit reading it the when it started out that way. I am glad I pushed through though because I ended up loving the book and the inspirational message behind the story.
