Review by chrissie_04 -- Lost and Love: Thailand (Book O...
While sitting in her desk, rolling her eyes at bothersome customers, Savannah realizes that her life is dull and that the passion she once felt in her marriage is crumbling. During her lunch break, she notices a poster about a trip to Thailand, and it gives her the idea to suggest to her husband Johnny that they should take a break and travel to Thailand to rekindle the passion they once had. Lost and Love: Thailand (Book One of Lost and Love Series) by Stella Knights, demonstrates the impact that settling in love and life can have on us and our relationships.
This novel is book one of the Lost and Love Series and is chiefly composed of moments where Savannah is striving to keep the spice alive in her relationship with her husband. Her friends help her realize that she needs to be more spontaneous and that she's capable of more than what she gives herself credit for. Characters like her colleague Pam who push her to try new things like adult shops and Zander who helped her to see that she has more potential than what she believes she does. The trip to Thailand helps her explore new sides of her husband Johnny, such as his fantasies, romantic sides, and flaws. Moreover, you see several times when she struggles to know what she wants; whether to move on or to stay with Johnny despite their problem of him always putting her second in their marriage.
Within this 274-page novel intended for adult audiences, there are several examples of erotic scenes and profanity. As for grammatical errors, I struggled to find any, which means that I consider this book professionally edited. I did question if the author deciding to capitalize every letter in the first four words of every transition or setting was intentional. For example, the sentence "YOU SEE, I FELL ASLEEP" is the first sentence you see when you start the novel. I found that writing style very eye-catching and different.
I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. The plot hooked me from the beginning to the end, and the characters were relatable. The issues that the characters were facing were not unrealistic, and their responses to their problems are understandable, so, therefore, they are not far-fetched. There are no distracting grammatical errors, and every character introduced had a purpose. I felt the author conveyed her message in a way that was clear, logical, humorous, and heartwarming.
I would recommend this book since the plot is intriguing, relatable, and the characters are entertaining to read about even if you are not a fan of their decisions. The story does leave you wanting more at the end of the book since it is only part one. If you enjoy reading books that discuss topics such as personal growth and relationship issues, then this is the book for you. If you are uncomfortable with erotic scenes and profanity, this book is not for you.
