Review by Samy04 -- 2612 Cherryhill Lane by Glenn Vo
2612 Cherryhill Lane is the debut book written by Glenn Vo. The story follows the life of Jonathan McCalister, the quarterback of the Katy Tigers. The story begins with Jonathan in the most important game of his life until now because he is about to lead his team to the Texas State Championship. Everything in his life was just perfect, he had loving and supporting parents, a little sister that he adores, a beautiful girlfriend and a bright future as a football player; but that was not going to last long.
A terrible accident suddenly changed not only his life and future but affects the lives of his family forever. Jonathan submerge himself in the guilt of causing the accident and loses purpose in his life, but years later he will meet people that will help him get out of the darkness; but one in particular, Samantha Reid, will impact his life while their love starts to blossom and will help him see life through another eyes, and find his way to self- forgiveness.
This is an innocent, inspiring, heart-warming Christian love story about faith, forgiveness and overcoming, that reminds us that love is capable of everything, that no mistake is too big or bad compared to the never-ending love and grace of God, and that even situations that we seem to not understand or think that there is no way out, God is in control and He has a plan.
There are plenty of things that I liked about this book, first of all, the way the author describes every moment to help the reader get into it but not in a way where you start skipping lines because you get bored of so many details. The way he explains the football plays, I think is a great way to help people like me, who don’t know about football to get a little in the game. I liked that the story follows a realistic and logical storyline so it was easy to go with the flow of the story and also to get involved in it, so the reader can relate to the feelings of the characters. There was nothing I disliked in the story, I think it was a real page-turner.
I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. I gave the book a perfect rating because I think it was great written, professionally edited, as I noticed only a single error in the entire novel and has good storytelling. I would highly recommend it for everyone to read it because of the message of forgiveness and also awareness while driving. But I’ll recommend it especially to those who, like me, love, enjoy and dream with beautiful love stories.
