Jonathan McCalister is a four-time winning MVP and quarterback of the Katy Tigers high school football team. He has a football scholarship lined up at his father’s alma mater, a beautiful girlfriend, and a family eager to celebrate with him after the winning game when tragedy strikes and he and his sister are in a car crash. When he wakes up in the hospital Jonathan’s legs are amputated along with his hope for a future athletic career. He is told soon after that his little sister was not so lucky when they crashed. The loss of his sister and the guilt of the circumstances of her passing leave him in a hopeless depression and in search of healing.

Years after the accident, still in the heap of depression, some seemingly unfortunate events allow a fellow student to rekindle Jonathan’s love for life. Her encouragement and their hopes for a blossoming romance, turn him from a bitter, downcast and hopeless man into a man that could possibly forgive himself, be a better person, and win her over. With the help of some friends, the counseling of a pastor, and faith in God, Jonathan goes on a journey of self-discovery that is truly heartwarming.

Written in third person omniscient, 2612 Cherryhill Lane was a beginner level read. It is a story of tragedy to triumph as an innocent romantic couple try and navigate the problems of university and plan their future. Will they end up together? I enjoyed the length of this novel. It was a very relaxing, weekend read that contained no spots of confusion or disorder in the plot. The characters' needs and actions lined up nicely and were all addressed by the end of the novel.

The aspect of the novel that I disliked most and my only critique of this novel, is in how it is labeled as romance. As a non-religious reader, my romantic experience was not heightened by the religious theme. I was surprised at how many times the bible was quoted, or an expression of a need for faith stated, yet the novel was not labeled christian romance.

I give this book a 4 out of 4 star rating because it was as impeccably edited and I found no typos or grammar mistakes. I recommend this book to all age readers because it is free of profanity or any lude actions. You will not find any raunchy or vulgar language in the pages. I think you will enjoy this novel the most if you share the beliefs of the author as christian religion is a strong theme throughout the book.

Good review! I agree that this book was not much of a romance novel.

I really enjoyed your honest review on this novel, and it sounds like a quick, but fun, read.

I also find it jarring to start a novel I'm excited by, only to find that I think it would be more appropriately labeled in a different genre. It still sounds like a intriguing story, nonetheless. :techie-reference:
