!!!DON'T TEXT AND DRIVE LADIES AND GENTLEMEN!!!
In 2612 Cherryhill Lane, Jonathan McCalister had the perfect life. He had a full scholarship for football, a beautiful girlfriend and a family that loves him. Until that unfortunate evening that led to a horrific car accident that turned Jonathan's whole life upside down. Years later, he meets his new personal assistant name Samantha Reid. At first, they didn't get along but as time pass, their relationship blossoms into friendship and something more.
Not only does Glenn Vo pull at teeth, he can also pull at the heartstrings with this story that carries an important message to all who reads it. This is a really good read and I have enjoyed it all the way to the end. I highly recommend it. I think the characters' development in this story and the story in general has a good pace. A real eye opener that life is short and precious and not perfect. It can change from one state to another in a instant. Do not take it for granted.
I think that readers can relate to Jonathan because we all have these internal battles that we face. Some have to deal with this more than others, but don't give up. Even when it seems to become too much, push forward. Jonathan has loved ones that gives him support and encouragement but pushed them away. Everyone needs someone who they can rely on and be there to give their strength, love and support and most of all to have faith. Believe it!
Football really is not my forte, but the story is informative about it but aside from that, I do like it overall. It has a good balance of a roller coaster with football, romance, drama, those moments that get too deep and personal and college life. What's not to love? God is mentioned within the acknowledgements and is sprinkled in some chapters quite a bit and then it occurs frequently towards the middle and the end of the novel. It depends on how the readers view it. In my opinion, I do not think it would be offensive but then again, it could, depending on how the reader feels about Christianity. To each their own.
No use of profanity or erotic themes. I believe that this novel would appeal to teenagers, young adults and older audiences, basically all ages. I rate 2612 Cherryhill Lane a '4 out of 4 stars' because I believe that the novel was spectacularly well edited with minimal to no typos because of a few missing punctuation, but it did not interfere with the flow of the story and that it was written well. There was nothing that I disliked. Even if football is not for me, I am open-minded to most things and it will not stop me from reading a good book. So if you like football and drastic life changing experiences and vintage cars and having yourself a good cry, then give it a try, jump in and enjoy the journey.
