One way or Another by Mary J. Williams, the first installment in The Sisters Quartet series, is a delightfully written novel for the pure romantic at heart. Oh, and did I mention? I am a pure romantic at heart.

Calder Benedict comes from a very wealthy and powerful family but she is also a beautiful, strong, modern, no-nonsense woman who struggles to find a man that is not only after her money or status but who can love her for what she is. She is just about ready to give up on that notion until she meets Adam Stone and mistakes him for a bouncer at a nightclub after he comes to her rescue following a disastrous date.

Adam, a self-made businessman, has a whole different view of females: they are to be respected, enjoyed, and forgotten and the only woman who seems to have his respect and admiration, is his mother. Calder literally runs into Adam the very next day at her family’s mansion where he is splattered in paint and once again incorrectly mistakes him for one of the painters. There is an instant physical attraction between the two of them and a love story follows that will grab at your very romantic heartstrings. Unfortunately, there is always a kink in the cable.

Calder, Andi, Bryce, and Destry are the famous four Benedict sisters and have since childhood been extremely close since each sister had a different father but the same flighty, promiscuous and self-involved mother, Billy Benedict. As the sisters have always had to look out for themselves and each other, Calder’s sisters’ approval of Adam is of utmost importance to her. They also have to deal with their mother’s numerous romances as well as the latest gold-digger, Ingo Hunter, who has in the past made passes at each sister and whose motives seem questionable, to say the least.

I found the book well edited and the characters fully developed and portrayed. I believe that this novel would appeal to a wide, but mature audience as there were some profanity and scenes of a sexual nature (although I have to add that it was very tastefully done). I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book, not only because of the contemporary but sweet romance, but also the sisterly love and closeness that the author so beautifully portrayed, and I therefore happily award it a 4 out of 4 stars rating. I look forward to reading the rest of the series as this one ended on an unexpected cliffhanger that left me quite surprised.

The book sounds sweet. Calder, and Adam's love story in particular. I'm looking forward to grabbing a copy of this so that I can enjoy every corner of their love story. Thanks for the great review.
