WARNING: This book is a mega tearjerker. If you start crying, then you’ll cry till the end. 2612 Cherryhill Lane is a romance novel written by Glenn Vo. The story revolves around Jonathan McCalister, whose life turns upside down when he gets in an accident. The plot begins with Jonathan leading his team, the Katy Tigers, to a stunning victory. To celebrate the win he was on his way to a restaurant with his little sister Gabby when the disaster struck. He got distracted with his girlfriend’s text and crashes his car into an oak tree.

That small distraction made him lose his legs and his dear sister’s life. It also puts an end to his football career. His father turns bitter and blames Jonathan for the loss of his daughter. Jonathan was drowning in guilt and depression when Samantha enters his life. As expected, she changes him into a better person.

Samantha is an independent woman. She refused to depend on her parents for even basic needs such as money for her education, and earned it all on her own. She never deterred from her goal of becoming a pediatrician. Jonathan was extremely stubborn and determined. When he has his mind set on something, he achieves it no matter what. Their relationship was very realistic.

There is a character that I would like to point out specifically. Though at the beginning of the book it was mentioned that Jonathan wasn’t close with Tom, their bond grew immensely. Tom was very compassionate and understanding. He didn’t bring up the topic of Jonathan's past even though he knew it. He stood thick and through with him and their friendship was heartwarming. Characters like him really make a book special and worth remembering.

After Jonathan made peace with his past, which was almost halfway through the book, I thought what more the plot could hold. Everything seemed solved. He became a better person. He started dating Samantha and even visited her family. But I was mistaken. Not everything was resolved. Their love had merely begun. When the end approached I understood how deep love runs. The ending was beautiful and touching. The plot was weaved with several feelings such as hope, forgiveness, patience, endurance, and determination. It inspired me and gave hope.

My favorite aspect about the book is the detailed way in which some topics were explained. It is clearly evident that the author knows a lot about topics such as football, lab animals, and prosthetics. The character I appreciate the most is Rose, Jonathan’s mother. Even though she lost her daughter she didn’t accuse Jonathan for it. She did not give up on him and provided her support to him throughout the plot. Her efforts to heal her son physically and mentally without losing hope depicted what a strong mother she is. I couldn't find anything that I dislike about the book. The only complaint is it made me cry so much that it left me with a blocked nose.

I rate 2612 Cherryhill Lane by Glenn Vo four out of four stars. I couldn’t find any errors while reading. Profanity wasn’t used at all. The book contains several verses from the Bible and doesn’t offend any other religion. There were no sexual encounters and there were only minor acts of affection. I recommend this book to anyone who likes emotional and moving plots. This book carries an important message to not text while driving. Not only the plot is outstanding, but also it will leave a strong impact on you.

Romance novels are my favorite. It will be interesting to see how the tragic incident affects the main character. Thank you for the review.

This book is not the typical romance novel. You'll find it very interesting and meaningful. This book is worth reading.
