Review by Rubbi -- A Long Dark Rainbow by Michael Tappenden
Love transcends beyond all boundaries. These words are well illustrated in the book A Long Dark Rainbow by Michael Tappenden. The author has narrated a sizzling love story that will keep readers engrossed and waiting for the two old lovebirds to just kiss. About four decades had passed since Alex had last seen Samantha. Back then in her prime age, she was beautiful, and he had eyes on her, but fear to make a move took the better part of him. They had lately bombarded - in their seventies - with her in a charity shop and she still looked pretty attractive.
Alex was talented in the world of art, a retired art history lecturer, and still single. Samantha was a gardener and a divorcee. Can they still make love now that they are in their seventies? Follow the author in this world of fantasy as he creatively presents this magnificent romance story in a captivating and entertaining manner.
One of my favorite aspects of the book was the formidable development of characters in the story. Samantha helped Alex to realize the hidden potency, confidence, and enthusiasm in him to enjoy love and happiness at an old age. Her vibrant and feisty personality was both impressive and heartwarming. The story had a terrific pace and a well-defined plot with the timely unfolding of events.
I also liked how the author articulately incorporated engaging dialogues and the efficacy of vivid descriptions aroused intense feelings of love and connection. He maintained a tight atmosphere full of a pleasant array of emotions and suspense from the first page until the end. And the ending was well-orchestrated as it was not abrupt rather a cliffhanger that left a thrilling trail of lingering thoughts and feelings.
Moving on, the author has superbly conveyed the power of love portraying how it gladdens and shines in any heart, in subtle and awesome magnitude, regardless of the age factor. It is a book that will encourage love to blossom in anyone afraid to let it flourish due to worries of age or other hidden fears. Apart from love, the book traverses other themes of kindness, artistry, and adventure. Nonetheless, I sound a warning that the author also alluded to sensitive topics of masturbation and lesbianism. Hence, it is not a suitable read for young readers.
To sum up, the book was purely a romance novel and thus those who relish reading intense romance should anticipate fun in reading this book. However, I recommend the book to a mature audience due to the sensitive topics that I had pointed out earlier. Additionally, the book had many erotic graphic details and a good deal of profanity.
Lastly, the book was exceptionally well written and professionally edited. I didn't encounter any grammatical errors and generally nothing that I disliked in the book. Therefore, I gave it a perfect rating of 4 out of 4 stars. This book was torrid, riveting erotica stuff!
