Ginny and George have been married for three years, and George’s parents want grandchildren. What his parents do not know is that Ginny and George are sexually incompatible. George only married Ginny to protect his reputation. Ginny married George for his wealth so she could get out of poverty. Due to their social standing, they only associate with George’s friends and family that are wealthy. These friends scorn Ginny because she came from poverty and she is Polish. One week, George decides to invite his auto mechanic, Pete, to his weekly Wednesday night poker game. Pete knows he does not fit in with George’s friends, but he attends anyway. Ginny always compliantly serves as hostess providing food, refilling drinks, and emptying ashtrays. There is an instant attraction between Ginny and Pete, and after three years of marriage, she realizes what she is missing in her marriage of convenience. But what can Ginny do? Can she give up all her money, clothing, and jewelry for a life of poverty? You will have to read Alix H’s Well Laid Plans: Part One of the Generations Saga to find out.

There were several things I liked about this book. Firstly, the author describes each of the characters in so much detail I could picture each of their personalities. I could also sense the snobbish attitude that their friends had towards Ginny. Secondly, the vivid descriptions of the activities allowed me to visualize a smoke-filled room during poker game nights, as well as the cars in the auto shop. Finally, the author has a clear and accurate understanding of the 1955 lifestyle. This understanding includes the style of clothing, the social attitudes, and moral standards of the time, which were right on point. Appearances were the most important thing to people.

There was nothing I disliked about this book. The book was well-written and flowed smoothly. There were only a few minor errors that did not distract from my reading enjoyment. I hope to be able to read the next book in the saga.

I only found five small errors in the entire book. These errors did nothing to distract my reading. I believe the book has been edited by a professional. I gladly give this book 4 out of 4 stars.

I recommend this book to readers over the age of 18. The non-borderline profanity and the exotic sexual content make this book unsuitable for younger readers. Some older readers may find this content extremely offensive because the sexual content leaves nothing to the reader’s imagination.

I love books that do a fantastic job at recreating a certain time period. I do wonder if appearances are still not essential to most people. Probably not in the same way it was in the 1950s, but I feel like we still are an appearance-focused society.

Great review! I am not surprised about George's friends' snobbish attitude. It's a reflection of real life and how most rich people look down on those struggling in life.

I have been married for ten years and I believe that marriage is one of the most challenging but most rewarding phase of life. Yes, challenging. Loving someone is not easy, but it is very rewarding. Not to mention the children....oooh! However, you will have to sacrifice and compromise just as in any endeavor in life that require one to take responsibility.
