Remembering Hope by Parastoo Rezai is a beautiful yet heartbreaking story about Omid and Bahar and their hard journey through Omid’s brain cancer battle. Watching him through the hardships, Bahar remembers all the wonderful moments from when the two first met and all the way to their final moments together. This story is very relatable as well as a major inspirational tale of how to cope and grow from grief.

I really enjoyed this book so much! For me, I related quite well with Bahar. Though I lost my husband to a heart attack and not cancer, the emotions were very real and I reflected on them as I read Bahar’s journey. I also liked the fact that some of the Israni traditions were included within the story as Bahar and Omar were born and raised in Iran. It was interesting to read about and learn from. The third aspect I really enjoyed was how the family came together when there were other hardships that came up and didn’t let Bahar give up and help her through the difficult times. My final thing I loved about this book, is the cover! How Bahar is overlooking the water and the eagle flying in the setting sun is so gorgeous. It also has a beautiful meaning within the story.

I don’t have any negative things to say about this book. However, the only thing that I will say is that the ending really didn’t have a satisfying ending. It felt like there could be a part two to this story. I would love to find out, though Rezai’s eyes, what happens to Bahar and her family moving forward. Honestly, it felt like a teaser ending, that leaves people wanting more.

I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars . I just don’t have any complaints about this book. I just hope that there could possibly be a second part so I can know what happens to Bahar and her future. This book was very relatable as well as a helpful guide to how to grieve and how to persevere after any tragedy that happens in one’s life.

I would recommend this book to people 18 and older. There is no graphic content within the story or profanity, but it does cover a difficult topic of cancer and losing a loved one to cancer.
