Review of The Hundredth Time Around
The Hundredth Time Around written by Stacy Lee is the passionate love story of Sean Anderson and Cassidy Quinn. After Cassidy suffers the ultimate heartache as a teenager, she decides to venture back to Short Sands beach, a place cherished by the family she no longer has. Little did she know, this summer getaway would change her life forever. She falls madly in love with a young and handsome Sean Anderson, spending as much time as she can with him exploring the beach and getting a glimpse into his life. However, reality sneaks back into play as the summer comes to an end and she has to return college and finish out her career dreams. Will time and space end their romance forever, or does fate truly exist? Not only does Cassidy have to survive the possibility of losing the love of her life, but she is also forced to face the facts of what truly happened on the day she lost her family. Will she survive the truth or will it destroy her forever?
The best part of this novel is the unexpected secrets that are revealed regarding Cassidy's tragedy back in high school. Readers think they are witnessing the reunion of long-lost lovers when in fact, they are learning of so much more. This huge family secret brings such a thrill to the entire story. It is such a shocking plot twist. I enjoy a simple romance story, but this little detail enhanced the book to an entirely new level.
I did not find any negative aspects in this novel. I truly appreciated the way the author played out the timeline to bring things back together. If anything, it would have been nice to have a few more details about the fifteen years that went by before the characters reconciled. The author shares a couple of things, such as quick romances, but it would have been interesting to learn a little more about their lives during that time. However, I do not think the story was negatively affected by not having that detail, it is just a personal preference.
I did not find any grammatical errors within the book. It was edited very well, and I truly feel that the author took special care in writing this story to catch and hold the attention of her audience. For this reason, I would rate The Hundredth Time Around four out of four stars. It was a wonderful experience to read this novel. I also believe it could make for a great movie one day.
Romance lovers will absolutely love this book. I personally do not read romance novels very often, however, this one captured my attention. I think this is a good read for a large variety of people, from teenage girls to older individuals looking for a good choice to share at a book club. I truly enjoyed this book, and I hope everyone else does as well.
