Disenchanted & Co by Lynn Viehl

This book had a lot less sex scene then I thought it would, only two and they were not particularly graphic more just there to set the scene up, expect the second time that was just there to be there. Had there been more sex scenes I probably would not have liked this book, because too many of those scenes are my biggest fear when picking up this sort of novel. I like novels that I can read in public without it being awkward, so this was just enough so that it wasn't too awkward.

Disenchanted and Co. stars Kit a detective in a Steampunk Victorian setting, that is widely believing in Magic, everyone except for Kit herself because all the powers of the these magicians and seer's power simply does not work in her presence, therefor they must all be charlatans. But will this trick of Kits get her into too much trouble when she takes on a job from The Hill, the place she swore she wouldn't work at again? Can Mr. Dredmore save her when she gets in too deep? Will she let him?

This novel was such a typical thing that I'd expect from mass market paperbacks, it had action, sex, intrigue and the unexplained. Not that any of those are bad but they do make things predictable.

Even though this is not a genre I typically read I still found it at times to be compelling read, I was never completely consumed in this world but I was entertained while I read.
