Chameleons by Onyx Gold is a romantic suspense novel that is sure to keep readers wanting more. Zia, a career-focused literary agent who is not interested in seeking a romantic relationship, meets Bryce who is instantly attracted to her. After some courting on Bryce’s part, Zia finds herself in a relationship. Around this same time, Zia receives a sample from a new author for a true crime story that piques her interest. Things are looking up for Zia as she lands herself a new client and a contract for a book series. Suddenly Zia finds herself in a dangerous love triangle that she did not see coming. She will need to enlist the help of her best friend Jazz and other characters to help her find a way out of this sticky situation.

What I enjoyed about this book is the intermingling of both romance and true crime genres. Both genres are great in their own way, but the author used aspects of both in the progression of the story which made me want to keep going without taking a break from reading. Though the love triangle trope is seen often in the genre of romance novels, the unique way this story plays out sets it apart from other stories. I also found the strong lead character Zia quite charming and at some times relatable which also kept me wanting to read on.

I do not have any negative aspects to note about this book. The plot, storyline, and characters are well-developed and work to create a thrilling read. Also, the book is formatted nicely and does not contain spelling / grammatical errors, and appears to have been professionally edited.

The intended audience for Chameleons would be adults, specifically those who enjoy the romance genre. There is detailed sexual content that would not be suitable for children. Though the predominant genre this book would fall under is romance/erotica, there is a strong true crime presence which could also appeal to readers of that genre as well.

Overall, this novel held my attention, and I was able to read it in one sitting. It has a very well-written storyline that dabbles in both romance and true crime, and it progresses naturally ending with a fulfilling conclusion. With both romance and true crime aspects intertwined it keeps the reader on their toes and wanting to find out what happens next. It is clear that the book was professionally edited, and I did not find any errors to note. Because of this, I give this book a rating of 4 out of 4 stars.
