Midwinter turns to spring by Maria Veloso is a very alluring romance novel that signifies the competency of music to communicate feelings. It demonstrates music’s endless capacity to express love in the most intimate manner. Music can reconnect you to a spiritual awareness that you enter a realm of miracles, of love. The way music is described to speak of heartfelt love, longing and sadness is incomprehensible. This story of Savannah and Alfonso’s love will open your eyes to what’s possible when one dares to love. It will sweep you into a delirium of love that defies all odds and will touch your heart deeply.

Savannah was a conservative person who tried to voice her feelings through art. She was an exceptionally good artist and was engaged to marry soon. Though she was not in love with the person she was engaged to, she felt a sense of constancy and safety with him. Only she did not know that her feet would be swept off the ground and she will fall for a person she could not claim as hers. What was refraining her from living happily with the love of her life? Will she be able to overcome the obstacles or sacrifice her life with someone she definitely did not love?

The author’s power of description is unparalleled. Her strong descriptive power will paint amazing mental pictures in the reader’s mind and propels them into an imaginative world. The author has skillfully described that not only music but also painting can deliver the deepest emotions of an artist. Along with emotions like happiness, guilt, heartbreak and love, the author has emphasized divinity and spirituality. I commend the author for including an aspect of love and care for orphans. The author has also prepared a soundtrack to listen which is quite soothing to hear.

I felt that the detailed descriptions and some flashbacks from past were monotonous and created a dullsville state in the beginning. It felt unnecessary and unexciting to continue reading. Apart from that I did not find anything negative. Having found very few errors, I will say the book was professionally edited. I would give this book 4 out of 4 stars. Though I found it monotonous in the beginning, the story, the author’s notion of love, art and sacrifice that love demands makes me give this rating to the book. This is a masterpiece well worth the time.

I would recommend this book to readers who are interested in romance with a hint of spirituality. I would strongly recommend this to someone who suffered through a heart break, for this book will heal you and will give love a completely different meaning.
