Melissa Mayhue’s second Daughters of the Glen book is a great continuation from Thirty Nights with a Highland Husband. Sarah is an independent and sassy heroine who is trying to understand her faerie powers, and Ian is a confident, handsome half faerie who is trying to protect Sarah and his heart. Mayhue introduces new characters, including the evil renegade faeries, and another half human half faerie, Ramos, and these characters add excitement and anticipation throughout the book. Highland Guardian does not take the characters back in time, but the history of the renegade faeries is revealed, leading up to a sequel that could take characters back to medieval Scotland, so the time travel isn’t needed in Highland Guardian. Foreshadowing gives the readers an idea of what is coming up next in the Daughters of the Glen series, and I can’t wait to read more!

Summary:
Sarah is in Scotland to overcome her writer’s block, but from the moment she arrives her problems become worse than simply being unable to write her book. Someone who wants to kill her is stalking her, but maybe that’s only in her mind, and the handsome owner of the cottage she’s staying at starts distracting her. Nothing is going as Sarah plans.
Ian is a half – mortal Faerie and for the past six – hundred years he has been a Guardian. He can handle Sarah’s stalker, and the renegade Faeries, but losing his heart to Sarah will cost him his Guardianship, and that is something he will never give up. But there is no denying their passion, and soon Ian must make a choice between his life long job and a possible life long love.
