Review: The Christmas Wedding by James Patterson

This book was fantastic!
Gaby was fun, frivolous and very likeable. I really wasn't on board with the story in the way that she had these three guys lined up as potential husbands and none of them knew who the lucky guy was going to be until the wedding ceremony. Sorry but I didn't think that was cool. The guys were all good with not knowing but it just didn't seem right to me. It sounded pretentious on her part and pretty narcissistic but then that was Gaby. You love her anyway.
But the story isn't all about her. It branches out to her kids who are all grown and have jobs and relationships and I found myself thinking her daughter, Claire was a real trouper. She'd given her all to her marriage and had the renegade son, Gus and her husband treated her like dirt.
Another of her daughters was married to a guy who had a brain tumor and I found myself crying a few times even though he was really upbeat and such a joker. Lizzie never complained and was always there for him and he was doing the best he could.
The other two, Emily and Seth had stuff going on in their lives, too but Claire and Lizzie were the ones I was most drawn to.
I loved the ending. It was so beautiful, especially Gaby's last video when we get caught up with how everybody was doing. Oh, and she had a beautiful wedding, too. I kind of suspected she would pick who she picked but you don't know for sure until the wedding.
The book was short, sometimes funny, sometimes sad with compelling characters and a great story.
