I received a copy of this book from Penguin's First to Read program. This book is a set of fictional anecdotes from Lillian, a woman looking back on her spinsterhood life. At times Lillian can be an insightful force of nature. Other "lessons" portray her as a Blanche duBois imitation, desperate for men (which she equates with love) at any cost. This was a very quick read for me; I finished the book in about three sittings. I felt the most honest and well-written part to be the very end. The men and the locations may have varied greatly, (which does become tediously repetitious after a while), but the themes themselves are universal. The moral -"You must tell your own story" is very resonating.
