Storm of Visions by Christina Dodd
The main characters name is Jacqueline and she is trying to run away from her destiny in this story. Her mother believes that she is to be the seer for the next group of Chosen Ones. The Chosen Ones are children who were abandoned as infants and God gave them gifts to help them survive the world on their own. They are often found by other Chosen Ones to help hone their gifts but sometimes they are found by the Others. Others are also abandoned children but they are raise on the side of evil and work for the Devil and try to destroy the Chosen Ones. In this novel the Others destroy all of the Chosen Ones who are gathered for a celebration, all except the group that Jacqueline is supposed to be a part of. This group is untrained as Chosen, their gifts are not strong, and only have a bodyguard and a old man to teach them. Will they survive?
I gave this novel 4 out of 4 stars. I love that it is a combination of paranormal romance, action, and mystery. The author packed a lot of action into only 377 pages and kept the story moving along at a fast pace with many twists. The characters are very diverse in skills and personality and yet work so well together.
I would recommend this book for anyone who likes romance and action. Even if they do not like paranormal usually, I feel that they could still get into this book as the paranormal side was done quite tastefully and just seems like part of the everyday side of life. The romance side was also done tastefully. There are a few sexual scenes and while the author does describe the acts very well she kept them short. With this said if a person does not like erotica they can still read this novel.
In conclusion, this novel was so action jammed I could not stop reading it for wanting to find out what happens next. Even now I am anxious to jump right into the next book. For those that like to read whole series, this one has five novels and one novella that is about 140 pages. The titles are: Storm of Visions #1, Storm of Shadows #2, Chains of Ice #3, Chains of Fire #4, and Wilder #5 with the novella titled Stone Angel as a prequel to Wilder.
***This is my first review and I would like any constructive feedback.
