Stolid by Aaron D Key is a romance novel about a boy who likes men in the 1980s, which, at that time, was a big enough crime to be locked-up in a cell. So let's get right into the plot.

The story begins with stolid, a man who was drunk and half conscious, lying beside a street, seeking for help. Then one stranger stopped his car and asked him if he needed some help. Stolid thought that he has got a lift to some safe place where he could rest and heal a little. But that was not the case. The man took him to a quiet seclusion of a lay-by on a deserted country lane. They both got out and Stolid was confused at the man's actions. He asked the man what's going on and the man said that they should take a walk and chat for a while. The man then asked Stolid that if he remembered him. Stolid was even more confused now. So does this mean that the man knew Stolid was lying there after all? And why did he pick up Stolid out of nowhere?

The thing that I liked about the book is the way it is written. The way the author takes us to the past with Stolid's story and then back to the present with the current scenario is really amazing. Although it is a romantic story, it has got a lot of twists and turns and some amazing revelations as well. And these revelations make the story much more interesting. The showcase of emotions between all the characters is also really commendable. Love, fear, regret, sorrow, respect, and many more values like these are touched upon here.

There is some non-borderline profanity in it, but that much was expected from a book 0f this much depth. There are some scenes of eroticism as well. They weren't that distracting for me and did not make it difficult for me to enjoy the whole story. And another thing is, even though it is the third book in the author's 'The wheel of eight' series, it can be read as a stand-alone book. And after reading this one, I think I will be reading the other two books as well.

In the end, I would rate this book 4 out of 4 stars, as I really liked the storyline of the book and the way the author has given so much thought into the details. I did not find anything to hate in it. I would recommend it to people who are introverted and confused with love. People who like romantic stories are going to love this one.
