Stolid by Aaron D. Key is an emotional story of love, life, and death. It was not legal to be a gay man back in the 1980s in London, and Stolid who is a young man, tries to find self-acceptance and love through the course of this book.

The story begins with Stolid asking for a lift in the rain on a cold night. A man pulls over and accepts a ride to London. The man claims to know him and appears to be acquainted with Stolid . They exchange memories, and the man convinces Stolid that he knows him . Over the course of the novel, we meet many people who are important in Stolid 's life. Overall, the story is sad, but it was fascinating to read. Does he learn who the young man was in the end? Will this queer man find his love? Will his love be accepted by the world?

I really enjoyed the author's creative writing style. The book conveys a message that queer people should be accepted and they should have equal rights just like others. Our main character resembles the literal meaning of the word Stolid , which means displaying few emotions.This book is part of a series but is self-contained and can be read without the other books. Although it first looked like a basic romantic novel, it turned out to be an exceptional one. It is easy to understand and the poetic writing style in some places makes it a unique book. I enjoyed the plot and the characters in the book. Also, the cover is really amazing. As the story drives towards the end, there is too much drama and entanglement. I'm really glad I picked up this book as it was an interesting read. I loved how the author explained the struggles that gay men experience.

There is nothing that I disliked about the book except the constant back and forth between the past and the present, which was quite confusing at times.

I would rate this book 4 out of 4 stars as it was an awesome read for me. I could not find any major errors in this book, which means it is an exceptionally well-edited book. This book was divine and kept my interest till the very end. It's a thought-provoking book that highlights how difficult it is for queer people to live. I would recommend this book to adult readers; people belonging to the LGBTQ community; people who love romantic novels; and people who are finding it hard to accept their sexuality.
