Review of Love All the Way
What is love? What is about it that can make us feel amazing even through the worst moments of our lives? Love all the way by Aurora Carafa is adapted in 1970 a year after the Stonewall Riots in New York, Melanie 'Mel' and Allen met as she was on her way home when she witnesses Allen being harassed due to be homosexual, and she didn't hesitate to help him. This moment is the starting point of this beautiful story.
Allen is a designer with his own brand, Mel is a bathroom cleaner who works hard to earn her living each day. After getting a glance at Mel's modest lifestyle, morals, and integrity he gets amazed by this but also by her positive attitude, strength, and cute looks, Allen proposes she lives with him and to become his partner in designing a new clothing line; charmed by Allen, Mel accepts his proposal without knowing that this partnership will develop in the greatest and most beautiful love of their lives. Unconventional for the time and not well seen by those who doesn't understand love, this beautiful story will take you in a journey full of emotions as you live their joys and struggles through the years, as they grow not only as partners but as individuals It will show you that real love exists can last forever.
As positive aspects of the book, the story is an easy pace story to follow and read, the characters are lovable and well develop as a group but also as individuals. The way the story is written and characters are described by each other makes it easy to understand their feelings and how they have got to where they are. The author also describes the environment attitude towards the characters which makes it easier to understand what they are getting through and the characters reactions and feelings which helps the reader get engaged in the story too.
The author's shows a great ability to make the reader engage with each character, but somehow it fails at first to help understand Mel's deep feelings for Allen, it felt rushed at the beginning; as the story goes on with Mel explaining why and how much she loves Allen it becomes easier to understand but as I previously mention it feels a little rush at first instance.
The book needs to be re-reviewed due to some mistakes in typing and spelling. It also contains strong language, vulgarities and adults content, enough reasons to not be recommended for kids, but it might work for young adults for them to understand that love is so much more than just liking and wanting someone.
I recommend this book to any reader who wants to experience a journey with excitement, joy and even tears, the book will drown you in a sea of emotions. It is also a story that will help you remember how love should be understanding and unconditional; also how the correct person even in the incorrect moment can help you grow and get the best of you.
I rate this book four out of five it will definitely be in my list of books to re-read, it was a beautiful to read, and it was amazing to get to know each character.
