Looking Glass Friends is about Ellie and Neil, two people in loveless marriages. Two people who share love for literature and poetry. Ellie and Neil are both fighting an internal battle between selfishness and selflessness, but as they learn, sometimes love is selfish.

To sum it up, I began and finished this book in less than 24 hours. Finally, a modern romance that captures the characters chemistry without reducing them to their sexuality. This book is so beautifully written, almost mimicking the style of Bronte or Austen, which is so rare to find in modern romance novels!

Looking Glass Friends is a slow burning romance. The characters do not love right off the bat or rather do not confess their love right off the bat. While I believe that only added to the authenticity of Neil and Ellie’s romance, if you do not have the patience for a slow burning romance, this may not be for you.

I would rate this book a 5 out of 5. The chemistry between Ellie and Neil is unmatched, almost as if you can feel it in the pages. It’s sweet and romantic, but it’s also sad and at times frustrating. I think a good book is one that emotes all these emotions. You become one with the characters. Ellie and Neil’s story did that for me. The way E L Neve was able to capture raw emotions without taking away from the books poetic nature is amazing. It’s not about two characters finding love but it’s their own story’s and how learning to love themselves allowed them to love each other. I cannot say enough how beautifully written this book is!

I would recommend this book to any other hopeless romantic who is craving a traditional romance.
