Review of A Violet Night
One day, Rory Guerrero bumps into Violet in the garden and is taken in by her beauty. He had never seen her before and wondered if she was Elda’s kitchen assistant or a guest because this was the time of year when the two kings reunited to force their daughters, Violet and Harriet, to spend time together. Rory is surprised when he and his best friend, Lee, find out Violet is a princess, and they are asked to escort her and her cousin, Harriet, around the castle grounds. Even though Violet and Rory are from two different lifestyles, they fall madly in love. To separate them, Violet is forced to marry her dead sister’s fiancé, Niran, and Rory and Lee are sent to the front lines of the war being fought in the Eastern Kingdom, where they are sure to be killed. Read A Violet Night by B. Kaitlyn to see if Rory and Lee escape the war, if Violet falls in love with Niran, or if Violet and Rory are reunited.
The demographics in this book were easy to visualize. Deep forests have a hidden cottage, village, and waterfall in a clear creek bed, and the castle has long hallways with many doors. Each character is fully developed, and I could feel their anger, betrayal, fear, jealousy, and love. B. Kaitlyn did an excellent job demonstrating the differences between the wealthy and royal characters and those who were peasants. The first part of the book started slow, but through these pages, I learned about the backgrounds of each character, which helped me understand the rest of the book. One of the main things I took away from this book is that wealth and status do not necessarily mean love and happiness.
The lack of professional editing is the only negative aspect I encountered in this book. There are a lot of missing words, wrong words, misspelled words, incorrect verb tenses, and missing apostrophes that make some of the narrative hard to understand. A professional editor would have found these mistakes and many more.
The plot of the story is good, and I would have enjoyed it if it had not been for the errors. I have decided to deduct one star for the plethora of mistakes in the book and another for my lack of enjoyment in reading this book. Therefore, my rating for this book is 3 out of 5 stars.
If you enjoy romance novels that contain gore, abusive sexual content, and non-borderline profanity, then this book is for you. If you are a fan of suspenseful mysteries, you will enjoy this book. I do caution that this book is for mature audiences only.
