I never really thought about what must have happened to the women that lost their husbands on the way west. This story gave me insight into what their life would have been. A wonderful love story of a spoiled girl who becomes a strong lovable woman and the man who loved her. Emma didn't want to go west, but her husband, Peter, was determined to go. Peter dies on the way west, leaving Emma alone to endure hardship and gossip of caring for the scout, Davis Cooper, that was injured when Peter died. The wagon master forces them to marry. Follow Emma and Davis thru their journey, ups and down, dangers, and finally they get their happy ever after.
