April Snow by A. L. Goulden is a book in the romantic fiction genre. This is the third book in the series and also the finale to the story.

Monica’s life took a dramatic turn when she found out about her husband’s affair and her personal life has been a struggle ever since. It seems that everything has finally settled down for her but she suddenly starts having doubts about the choice she made. Is Quinn hiding something from her? If so, then why? Quinn is not her only problem though. Alex wants a second chance to win back Monica’s affection. Then there is Jack, who simple refuses to stop staking her. Will Monica come out of this romantic quadrangle with her heart intact and trust undefeated this time?

The author tries to give a good gist of what has happened in the previous two novels for the reader who might not have read the previous installments in the series. Though the picture seems clear enough, I think it would be a better idea to read the previous novels as there are some half-explained references to plot points of the preceding books. Coming to the writing style, the author’s writing style is simple and engaging. The book is written from multiple perspectives, with the reader picturing the scene from the minds of various characters. It is entertaining to read the characters perception of what is unfolding before them. Easily, the best parts of this story are its creative passionate scenes which take the cake.

The author has created a believable character in Monica. At times she seems quite self-centered as she wants to keep both her past and present together but the author does a good job explaining the confusion Monica might be facing. It is not easy to fall in and out of love and the author deals brilliantly with this concept as she portrays Monica’s moral dilemma, regret and the emotional upheaval she is going through. The only part I did not like about Monica’s character was her submissiveness. It reminded me too much of the Fifty Shades series. The other major character, Quinn (Monica’s present love interest), has likable traits like maturity and his loving nature. However, these traits get overshadowed by his insecurity and possessiveness, which paint a negative shade to his character.

As I mentioned before, the book has some explosive intimate scenes but the pitfall of these scenes is that they take precedence over the story, which unfortunately lacks substance. There is a sort of finality to this book; therefore, barring a few confrontations and one fight scene, there is no excitement in the plot line. I guess the author was done with the major chunk of the plot in the previous books, therefore, there isn't much left in this one. This book holds great appeal for the lovers of erotic romances though, who should definitely give this one a try. I rate it 3 out of 4 stars

Very detailed review! It's a shame the intimate scenes didn't balance out with the actual plot of the book.
